Resetting or Changing Your ChatGPT Password

If you're having trouble accessing your account, or if you want to update your password, follow the steps below.

How to reset your ChatGPT password

  1. Log out of your account, or open a private/incognito browser window.

  2. Go to the ChatGPT home page

  3. Click Log in.

  4. Enter your email address or phone number and click Continue.

  5. Select Forgot password? on the password entry screen.

  6. Follow the instructions in the password reset email you receive.

Didn't receive a password reset email?

If you don't see the password reset email:

  • Check your spam or junk folders.

  • Make sure you're checking the correct email account you used to sign up.

  • Double-check that there are no typos in the email address you entered.

If you originally signed up with Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, you will not have a password to reset. In that case:

  • Please log in using Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft.

  • If you need to reset your Google or Microsoft password, you’ll need to do so directly through their websites.
